Too Many Bad Things in My Life -слишком много плохих вещей в моей жизни – Troppe cosas mal in mi vita

Too Many Bad Things in My Life

I’ve seen too many bad things in my life
and because of this, I am sad and tired.
Depressed people encircle me
and I have to be afraid
they commit suicides.
In any case, I have no strength
to console them.
I put my head in the sand
and try to forget

Troppe cosas mal in mi vita

Io ha vidite troppe cosas mal in mi vita
et a causa de lo io es triste et fatigate.
Io es circumferite per homines
depresse et io debe timer
que illes suicida se.
In omne caso io ha non fortia
pro dar consolation a les.
Io pone mi capite in arena
et face un effortio
pro negliger

  1. Dark side of empathy is as much brutal as tendentious self harming. Some people like being permanent blood suckers. Trying to help others who are not aware or don’t want help causes a waste of lifetime energy.

  2. I think Retka is right, although I don’t think that they suck on people on purpose. Some people don’t want to get out of their depression, because they feel safe in it, as bizarre as that may sound. (We had a case in the family.) But, we should not let them suck us dry …

    1. Thank you for your comment.
That’s what my poem is about.
The narrator of the poem is surrounded by demands
which are too heavy for him/her to carry.
It would be also unwise to redeem these expectations,
because he/she would run out the energy.
But because the narrator is also a human
it’s hard for him/her to stay cool.
      Take care and stay juicy
and I will try it too 😉

PS We have the word ”keskushenkilö”, which is the voice of the story/poem, but I don’t know the English equivalent. The other word for that when it comes to poetry is ”runominä”. ’Keskus’ = core and ’henkilö’ = character; ’runo’ = poem and ’minä’ = I.
That’s why I must use the word narrator.

    2. I mostly agree with you. Also, I think that depression is not something from which you could just wake up one morning and erase all the darkness.
Well, I have personal experience, that is why I’m saying so.
To understand fully someone you must be in ”same shoes”.
Of course, I wish all the best to your family member.
Finding personal purpose is not easy, but small steps toward sense in unsensible world could make good feelings.

      1. Thank you, and you are right, it is hard to understand the situation, if one has never been in it oneself. I could only see, with my mother, that she did not really wish to be comforted or built up, and I think for her being depressed was easier to cope with, at least she knew the situation. She did not dare to be happy, lest something bad would happen again, which it always does in this world.
I did not have the impression that her only aim was to get attention. It was real to her.

      2. Dear Stella,
Well, if you can, be there for your mom. Be a friend. Be gentle. Have understanding. Somehow, yes, depression pulls you into nothingness. Enough time in that state can be more bearable that any uncertainty of leaving that state, to say any change brings. Although it sounds unlogical. SSRI inhibitors helps only in that range that you feel you’re a little more capable for everyday life. Some kind of psychological counselling for some people works and for some not. The trigger for depression is mostly somewhere in childhood trauma, whic are abusment, abandonment, neglection, denial of child needs. Often it’s burried deep in unconcious, because it is so much painful.

I wish you and your mom all the best and I hope there is something that could make her feeling worth, such as something she really likes to do and what make her soul feeling at home.

      3. I’m so sorry, I didn’t know your mom passed away. 😦 I think I exaggerated in sharing my thoughts. I didn’t mean to be rude.
If I may say, I believe your mom’s voice was awesome.
My mom had warm, cheerful and tender voice. I really miss her.

  3. I like the poem. It’s hard to help others when you are an empathetic person, but it’s depressing NOT to help people. I guess the trick is learning which people to help and also spending recuperative time alone.

I agree with you. I have seen these things happen around me
and I picked up the image which in some sense, anyway,
      describes the overwhelmed person’s feelings.
I wish you all the best in 2020 🙂

  4. Bonjour mon Ami AMIE
    Tu vois

    1. Thank you for your smart observation.

The word in my mind was ”circumscribed”, but somehow I managed to make so big error that the word turned into ”circumcised”. I realized the misspelling later on, but I decided that I let it be the way it was. On the other hand, I thought will the reader see it in a way I do. Well, you can tell me.

I left it there because the circumcision is something which happens in side the family and people who see the operation through have huge power over the one who will be circumcised. This position makes the life of our humble human being even more miserable. After all, the poem tells about the living person whose kindness is misused.

If the idea is too subjective, I might use the word encircle or circulate. Which one do you recommend?

      Take care 👍

  6. In my humble opinion, humans make too much of good and bad, happy and sad. I think they get a fair measure of both, but some people would have us believe that they are getting a disproportionate share of one. Like the Harry Potter writer J K Rowling said at one of the ’commencement’ speeches at a big US school, I think Harvard, ’The opposite of success isn’t failure. The opposite of success is not trying.’ But, there are many things I don’t know.
